1989 ford bronco 2, hey everybody! my alternater died on me out in the hills. I ended up putting a battery from a dodge dakota in it just to get it home. big mistake, the 2.9 fuel injected v6 manual started but then i smelt wires burning, oh ****!!!!! i replaced fuses, the starter relay, "now it turns over" and the ignition coil, dont no what i should replace next, any idea's?????????????????
I bet you brunt out your ecu (engine control unit), which is the brain of the motor.
My qeustion is how dose putting a battery in your truck fry everything...was that battery rated higher then 12v or somthing? Becuase that shouldnt happen like that
Im not too sure about where its located.... you can try looking in the passangers side foot area, on mine its behind thatlittle plastic panle near the door. But mines an 87, i know yours is quite a bit different. If you have a repair manual for your truck, that will tell you.
As where you can buy a new ecu, that can be plenty of places.
Try autozone, napa, etc.
Rockauto.com may have it
Junkyards may be able to help you out, just make sure you find a computer for a 89-90 bronco II, programed for whatever transmission you, it wont work.
uhm... I still fail to see how putting a battery from another vehichle in your BII was an issue. I'm wondering if perhaps there was an OOPS and crossed battery cables involved.....
I've swapped batteries between my two older vehicles and had no issues *shrug*
more than likely, though, if you have no spark, you might want to check your tfi module on the distributor and all of your circuit protection (fusible links, fuses, etc etc etc ... since that's what probably burned up? ) there are other posts about this problem of no spark elsewhere in here...
