Emergency brake adjustments

Does anyone know how to adjust the emergency brake on a 94 Aerostar (3.0 l)? My emergency brake has very little slack and should be loosened. Thanks.

they should be self adjusting by a small ratchet in the brake drum, but if that is not working, they often don't work to well anyway and sometimes you have to adjust with a screwdriver blade though the small hole in the back of the drum back plate. You can adjust the cable as well about midway under the van or at the emergency brake handle inside the van.

Thanks VanGo. Good description and picture of the self-adjusting feature inside the hand brake lever. I tried placing a pin in the hole to release the tension, but no luck.
