Now that I have a 2006 F150 STX 4X4, I will most likely take the 1977 F150 off the road and give her (we call her Bessy!) the time and attention she needs and deserves. At first my wife didnt understand why I would want to keep her since we now have a new truck. And yes, the '06 (we call her Figgy) will be haulin the dirt, gravel, compost, mulch, lumber etc...that bessie hauled. So why keep her? Well, I think she deserves to be spared from the 'CRUSHER" and have the tailgate fixed, gas tank replaced, interior improved, window reg. replaced, engine bay cleaned up and do all the things she needs to make her run better. And maybe, just maybe a new paint job! She still starts right up with a turn of the key, and last week I saw the previous owner on my way to work. I stopped to say 'hi' and he said to me "Wow, she still runnin?" then "I sure miss this truck". I didnt tell him I just bought a 2006 F150, he may have begged me to sell her back to him! I will still make a few more runs to the gravel pit with her before handing the job over to the '06, because I am waiting for a new "Load Handler" from Harbor freight tools. Then, she will sit on the driveway and enjoy a slow methodical restoration process! And some day a ride to a truck show!
Lee, that the life that my 85 now leads. Her name is Ruby and she did all the work untell 97. Then i turned the work over to a 97 f150 in which i tranfered the work load to my 05. Ruby is a reg. cab larait 4x4 with a 302. when ever the wife and i can escape we take ol' Ruby. She'll sit in the middle right beside me and we ride. sorta sounds like a song ehhhh? but there is alot of memberes in that truck. We've completely restored her. we debated weither to repaint her. we decided not to cause the scratches and faded places is her history. She has no rust or scratches or chips down to the metal. if it comes to that we may repaint her.
jax, I like your '05 reba! I know what ya mean, my wife slides right up next to me in the '77, love the bench seat! But not so in the '06. It has a bench seat, but no leg room in the middle with the 4x4 shift boot and drink holder! And I dont see a paint job in the near future, it is already primed black by the prev. owner, but need more body work. So she will keep her character! & the '06, I wanted a red one, but all they had were silver, black and white, so I opted for silver.

Thanks. my 85 is still painted its orginal paint. yea its red. would'nt guess that i hate red would ya? i think the silver 150's are sharp. all my trucks where red but my 93. it was grey. all my mustangs where blue but my 87 which was black. its not something i tried to do it just worked out that way. i dont know theres just nothing like having my woman snuggled up against me going down the road.
