another ic install.....
got an ic im gonna put in next weekend in a friends truck...just need thoose two parts
im gonna make my own pipes for this next install. i have 2 sets of SD pipes and found a local muffler shop that made a the bends for me i just gotta weld them all togethor. and get the early99 y pipe in there.
i was just gonna put the 3" plenums on the truck so i can use the less expensive late 99 and up y pipe but i dont want to have to deal with all the fab work to get under the intake side of the turbo. wish the truck had a gt38 or h2e then the 3" goes right in. this truck just has the beans tranny saver injectors in it so it will be fine with the small intakes...just wanted to make it easier on me....

Is installing 3" plenums as easy as swaping them out? Or is their more to it?
Sorry....I did'nt mean to change the subject of your thread....
the only problems with the 3" plenums is under the intake side of the turbo. you can get a stock superduty plenums and notch the plenum under the turbo and weld it back togethor. there isnt a ton of work to do on the sd plenums to get them under there. if i can remember correctly it was only like a 1/4" ive put the high rise al penums on a couple trucks and that was quite a bit more modification to get them under there. that was almost an inch i had to do. just make sure if you do weld them bolt the plenum down to a piece of 1/4" or thicker plate so they dont distort when you weld them. i had sandwiched the plenum between 2 pieces of 3/8" and made my first pass with the tig with no filler to make sure it was completely sealed then let cool all then go over one more slightly hotter pass and got a good amount of filler over the initial weld to make sure it cant split there, i wouldnt let it cool between the passes since that will make the warpage possibility worse. but ive done a couple and havent had a problem and one of the ones i did is on a 450rwhp daily driver that is seein 50lbs of boost all the time and he hasnt had a problem.
when i get a quick spool h2e ive got a set of 3" AL plenums and the hypermax gear to go back in my truck. current injectors just dont have enough fuel to spin the h2 and flow through the massive tapercore.
im doing the install on a friends truck, she tows a big horse trailer with it all the time and needs to get the egt's down.
