have a 1967 f250, has a 352 auto. putting a 360 standard in it. cant get the pilot bearing out , any idea's,whithout puller. thanks for any suggestions.
They do make a puller mac tools sells them.
I always use a clutch alignment tool or something close to the inside diamete of the bearing or bushing pack the hole with grease and tap the tool with a hammer.
grease will force the bearing out after doing this a couple of times.
hope this helps.
Here's a nifty method.
1. Locate a long bolt (maybe 4 or 5 inches) and about the same diameter as the pilot bearing input shaft hole;
2. Get some grease (any kind), put a glob on your fingers and push it into the bearing hole;
3. Put the bolt into the bearing hole and give it a smack with a hammer.
4. The bearing will pop right out onto the bolt.
Really great example of the power of hydraulics.

"Do they even have a pilot bearing? We are talking about the bushing on the back of the crank?"
OOPS, didn't read close enough - you are talking about the pilot bearing on the 360/standard - not the 352/automatic.
I used the grease method and it worked like a charm. I got an old socket that just fit inside the bearing. Filled the bearing and the socket with grease, put an extension on the socket and whacked it with a hammer. That bearing popped right out.
well sorry to say, the grease trick didn't work, but the good old chisel and hammer, worked, would have liked to save it, to sell with the cluth preasure plate, and bell housing, but alls well that ends well. Thanks again
