Rusty Bed Floor
Rusty Bed Floor
Does anybody have any recommendations on the least expensive (cheapest) but somewhat solid method of replacing the bed floor on my 77 F250? I believe it needs to be entirely replced as it is dented badly smack in the middle and the last 10 inches of it has spots I can look through.
The floor is pretty expensive to replace, and be sure that you are getting a floor for a 250 if you ever do buy a used bed to scalp the floor out of.
I have seen people buy a sheet of thick guage metal, cut it to fit around the wheelwells, install in the bed then put a heavy coat of bedliner over it.
How bad is the rust ? Is the front panel gone as well, what about the bedsides ?
After just replacing 2 bedsides and a front panel on our project, I think if I have to ever do it again, I will just have a rust free bed shipped to me from out West. Even with discount pricing I get on sheetmetal, I still think having a bed shipped would be more cost effective.

The rust comes from the rear of the truck in most places about 4 inches forward, it has one spot where it has made it 10 inches. The rest of the bed is rust free after removing all the paint to make sure. The sides are good in rust department too. It just is hammered and is going to involved a lot of time which I have. I live on the West Coast so getting a bed might be the way to go for me. I am willing to part with the money for that much effort taken away.
