ive had this for a while now and i have no idea where it is comming from. It sounds like metal chains clanking together. Anyone ever come accross this?
its comming from underneath the truck (suspension area possibly). It happens even if i go over small dips in the road when driving around town. I thought it might be my handbrake cables rattling against my shocks but they are pretty stiff against the shocks.
My 1983 F-100, that I used to have, had a rattling problem that turned out to be one or both of the leaf spring brackets being loose and rattling. I now own a 1985, and it appears that the previous owner may have had the same problem, as there is a small piece of metal wedged in between the leaf springs in front of where the bracket is located.
Front bumper bolt was loose on mine grandpa replaced the bumper and didnt tight two bolts all the way went over a bump and that rattle would make me crazy also over a bumpy road it would rattle
Check the whole exhaust system for loose mounts and loose clamps. I had a muffler clamp that broke over a joint. It looked OK but rattled when bounced hard.
