Kwik, thanks for the write up. I have saved it for future reference.

For those interested in sucking out the fluids from the back two cylinders, I have a Mighty Vac extractor and I think it would work great for sucking the oil and fuel out. I would bet it would get the majority of the stuff out. I would try to suck out all that I could then roll the motor over like Kwik did.

Ok... sorry to ressurect and hijack this thread kwik..

Im about to pull my sticks and put new orings on and my motor is upside down on the engine stand with the oilpan "gasket" curing.

Do you guys think im going to have issues with oil getting into cyllinders with it being upside down?

Is there any other reason it would not be safe to do this with the motor upside down?

Im minutes away from building up the courage to pull the valve covers to see what's what.

You're worrying about it too much man. It will be fine upside down(akward but fine), and it will all drain out, but evacuating the cylinders right side up isn't a big issue honestly, just leave the glow plugs out, and either crank it with the 42 pin or CPS disconnected, or turn it over by hand if you prefer.

When it it back in the vehicle it is much easier to turn it over by shorting out the starter relay on the main two nuts(not the bolts to minimize arcing the threads and bugerring them up) at the passenger wheel well. That is how I would turn it over after I removed the fluid by vacuum or syringe.

Kwik was a precursor to the FRx, same design, but he regulated the return with a fixed orifice.

It had been so long I jumped the gun on my response, edited the post above though after I got to reminiscing I think I was actually wrong and it was the fuel rail crossover rather than the fuel feed orifices. Too long ago to recall for sure and Dan hasn't been on in a while to respond.

I still run my original system today and have no plans to remove it.
I installed one of Clay's FRx kits on a friend's truck and it made enough of a difference that he called me up to tell me that his truck sounds great and the death rattle is now cleared up. (his words).

With the same sentiments about the whole Facebook phenomena, I'm doing the same.

Don't want to lose touch with you, Dan.
