You are not allowed to do this ...no more...do we understand each other.
Tim Lampkin,

First of all. Don't talk to me like a child. All I did was post a link where people can register for free monthly drawings for truck parts. I do not have stock or am in any way part of any staff on the other site. I'm sorry if it violated the rules.

I'm through here. This site is way over moderated...you can't even post pictures.

In addition to deleting my membership.... you can delete the tranny tech article I wrote as well in the 6.0 tech forum. Funny...it's linked to the other site as well.

Hey Bear ,I would have to agree at times.
But you would have to admit that what you posted sent people to another site that doesn't advetise here.So it would eventually take revenue from this site wouldn't it?

But I personally would hate to see you leave, you write some dang good articles from what I've read.
As far as the other guy to me he's transparent,I see him but I don't.
If he doesn't like it thats okay.
I don't deal with him ,Talk to Ken mostly

Not to get into an argument here, but plenty of people post pictures. I just saw a picture of the front grill of a pre-2005 SD with a 2005 grill on it, and the user isn't even a contributor. What kind of pictures were you posting?

As to the "don't talk to me like a child", your last paragraph certainly sounds like a 5-year-old saying "I'm leaving and taking my Legos with me". Plus, posting here in public like this is certainly not an adult way to deal with a problem. If you got paid in any way for the article, t-shirt or cash, you can't take it with you ...

I had a problem with the management years ago about signatures. I got over it. I suggest you do the same.

That is the understatement of the century!! I guess they are afraid some 14 year old who owns a ford truck is going to get on here and hear us argue about gas vs. diesel and get offended by the name calling. Heck, I don't even know why I am writing this, one of them will just come by and modify it to say whatever they want.

The problem is the gas vs. diesel ALWAYS DEVOLVES into a flame-fest. It wastes space, moderator's time, etc. There are stickies all over the place saying "NO GAS VS. DIESEL". There's one in the V10 forum and even us restrained guys can't help lumping onto the occasional troll.

Smart administrators of web-sites, BBS's (remember the old dialin boards?) and every other public forum have learned long ago, long before the birth of the "Internet" as we know it, to always clamp down on certain things. Human nature dictates it will happen. Clamping down on it is not only smart, but will certainly keep the number of lynchings down significantly

This place HAS to be uber-regulated. When you get people from all over the world, everyone has an opinion about brand, how best to fix something, you name it. There will always be fights, and the moderators are there to stop it from happening BEFORE it starts.

I like it this way, I don't need to spend hours explaining things to people who totally disagree with me.

Oh, wait, now it's ME doing it...

ARGH!

I disagree with krewat... this place does not have to "uber-regulated."

Bear Hunter, I'd hate to see you leave... you are a good resource here and my mag lite confirms that! That said, I have to agree with you that the site is over moderated... I have had several posts deleted or changed for no apparent reason. When you really think about it, this country (USA) was formed by people who took a wooden boat across the ocean to get away from being over moderated. It is innate in all of us that we be free of overbearing moderation. I hope the site can find the balance between trying to pay the bills vs. sending us away in a wooden boat for another website with more latitude.

Sleep on it. Don't leave in a tear.

I don't know what forums you are posting in, but if anyone edits your post, it was for a good reason. There must have been something worthwhile to it, otherwise it would have just been deleted

I have never had a post editted - some deleted, yes, but they were in the middle of a long line of rants where I knew it was going to heck in a hand-basket anyway real soon. Guess where? In the middle of a gas/diesel war.

Guys I'm sorry that you feel the way you do about over-moderation.
The rules that we play by on here are based on past experience.
Right or wrong, we've learned over the years that sometimes it's better to clamp down on a potential problem before it turns into a real problem. Sometimes we're not always good at explaining why we do things the way we do and I apologize for that.
We've seen lots of good threads turn into nightmares because we didn't clamp down hard enough or fast enough.
This is one of the biggest automotive forums on the www with well over 300,000 registered users. It gets pretty hectic.
When reading what someone types to you it's easy to interpret things differently than if that person was actually talking to you. Lots of us aren't great at communicating things in the way they are intended. Ask my wife lol
I'm sure that Tim didn't mean to talk down to anyone. It maybe just came across that way.
Bear Hunter I'm sure that Tim wouldn't mind if you emailled or PM'd him for more of an explanation. He's actually pretty easy to get along with
Like the other moderators on here I'm just a volunteer and that's just how I see things.

I think its pretty interesting this thread hasn't been deleted. It may have been edited, but then again, I can't tell.

Bear, I really enjoy your tech articles and hope you stick around to write a couple more.

Same here. Was thinking this thread would be closed at least. Bear has already been deleted. Tried looking at his gallery...and all was gone!

I'm going to miss those pics!!!

Sad you wanted to take this public, however
Spamming is not allowed in FTE nor is badgering other forum members.
BTW "no more" means it has happened before.

As for telling me what you think of me, OK does not bother me.

As to over moderating, many know me very well here, I do not over moderate, nor does any of other moderator, if that happens we will address it~

As for picture posting, when the thread title is " Post Pics of your Rides ! -Tons of huge pics, what a mess!" and all six take up one page, it will draw attention to something else we don't do on FTE.

As for anyone who agrees or disagrees, how can you ....when you don't know the complete story.

If you want to talk, email me your number, give me times you will be home I will call... on my nickel....that goes for ANY person on this site. Don't like what is happening let's talk.

...and YES I agree very good articles, Bear writes...
Biz NO one has been deleted, we do not do that.

Regarding the pictures - due to the quantity of users still on dialup we request that pictures be displayed as links, and not as embedded images.
It is just a common courtesy to your fellow user.
In addition to deleting my membership....you can delete the tranny tech article I wrote as well in the 6.0 tech forum.
We are unable to "remove" your membership, but the link provided by you has been removed at your request.
Funny...it's linked to the other site as well.
I conversed with you regarding this, and even offered the website space for it to be posted as an article here, which you declined...

The reason the "other link" you posted was removed as it was for commercial gain - given that we have sponsers which assist financially in supporting the very significant bandwidth (1 terabyte a month), maintenance and salary costs, we are unable to allow other commercial links unless they are able to assist in the running of this site.
The link to the transmission tech article was not a link for commercial gain.

I too will be dissapointed if you leave, as your tech articles and contributions are good - but its your choice, our rules are laid out in the sand (you have to read them to become a member), all users must abide by them.

Anyway - I believe you already have my e-mail - if you would like to discuss the issue further, I will even pay the International calling charges if you would like to chat about it.
