I'm adding Keyless Entry to my power door locks on my 1992 Ford F250 7.3L DSL. The Installation manual states to find out what type of factory power door lock system is in use. Anyone have a clue....I sure don't. It has different instructions depending on the type you have. 1 example is 3 wire grounded switched signal step door locks. and there are several others.
The power door lock switches reverse the polarity of the power going to the actuators to change the direction they move. When you press lock it grounds one side of the actuator on the pink/light green wire at the switch and sends 12V to the other side on the pink/yellow wire. When you press unlock it sends 12V to the one side of the actuator on the pink/light green wire and grounds the other one on the pink/yellow wire.
Yup it is reverse polarity. And i put a keyless entry/remote start in my 93 f150 2 weeks ago so if u have anymore ?s just ask.
can I ask how you wired them? relays involved? trying to do my 89. putting a K9 mundial-3 with keyless. I have the alarm in and working, but no door locks hooked up yet. it has factory elec locks. 5 wire reversing polarity.
Thanks

Yes relays are needed. I went into the passenger side door and i dont remeber the exact colors of the wires but there is a set coming from the drivers side switch to the passenger switch then from the passenger switch to both lock motors. The wires from the passenger switch to the motors T's off to both motors. You have to put the relay before the T. There should be a diagram in the directions to show you how to hook up the relays. I put mine under the passenger side kick panel or what ever panel is called down to the right but they are not in the door but i guees u could put them in the door if u wanted to. But make sure u have the right kind of relays, i found that part out the hard way. if you need me to go look at the wire colors for ya i will but u should be able to figure it out with a test light.
Here is a wiring diagram from a 91 ranger but it is that same thing as mine and your truck. This is how i figured out how to do it. I belive the colors are the same too if i rember correctly. https://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.ph...3d800ba9cd.gif
