Anybody know where I might be able to locate a new rust free cab? I don't need the doors, just the basic cab. The more I lay under it trying to decide what to do, the more I think a new cab would be the best route. Alot of what I thought was metal is expandable foam covered in carboard and undercoating. Thanks!
I know I have seen fiberglass cabs. Can't remember for the life of me where, though. They would never rust, but attatching everything would be a lot of work.
What pieces are rusted away?
Sorry, it's a '70 but any 67-72 should work.
Rust... inner rockers, floors everywhere, cab corners and back, and mounts. I could fix it but I think I'd have to pull it off the frame anyway. I don't want to go the glass route.
I live in the southwest (Abq NM) and yes we have plenty of rust free cabs. Email me if you would like me to find you one. Shipping costs are usually cost prohibitive though.
where are you located, I'm in N. Il and may know of one. You can buy a fiberglass cab from obsolete Ford parts, but the cost is $4599.00. Hell for that kind of money you can buy a couple of whole trucks!!!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Oct-02 AT 05:19 PM (EST)]There's a guy in Oklahoma named Jerry that sells rust free western body parts. (I got fenders from him at Indy) He comes east in the spring for shows and swaps. He will deliver it on his way through...if it's close. He comes through on I-70 and I-40 pretty often. He also keeps SOME parts in the Columbus, Ohio area. Might give him a shout. < partsman1(No Email Addresses In Posts!) >
U.S. Body Source in Fla. makes an all glass cab, BUT it costs around $4k if I remember right! Whew. Good luck,
