Surgery.

Well, I just had my tonsils removed today. I am safely out of the hospital. Surgery went well. I feel like crud, but whatever. I wouldn't expect anything less when having two giant burnt holes in the back of your throat. I went in at 11:something AM and was released a tad after 1PM. The last thing I remember was reading the brand name of the overhead surgical lamp. Suddenly I was laying in a completely different room with a mask on my face. Pure oxygen gives one heck of a good buzz. Anyone else here have tonsil surgery? I have heard that having them removed when you are a kid is much less painful then when you are a little older.

So what was the brand name of the lamp?

Glad everything is ok. I hope you feel better soon.

Wow...that's odd. I remember reading the name twice. But for the life of me I can't remember the name. I'd know it if I saw it. Optiflex or something like that.

I had mine removed at age 44. they were real bad and had bothered me for 20 years, and they were badly infected. Reading the pathology report is "interesting"... I lost my uvula at some point after the operation. It was badly bruised by a clamp or something and just dropped off, -I haven't missed it. The pain medication was worse than the pain

Mine came out when I was 6 or 7 years old, many decades ago.
Doc said I could have all the Ice cream I could eat.... I took advantage of that situation with vigor.

I finally found a doc to remove mine when I was 21, many moons ago, I had lived on antibiotics from when I was about 6 until than. I missed so much school it was ridicules but still doctors would say that I would out grow them. These things would get so big they would touch each other and I wouldn’t be able to eat for days.

Oh, that tonsilitis is awful. My sister had them taken out when she was 2 or 3... She's 6 now, so it hasn't been that long. They were big as hot air balloons. Oh, gross to look at.

I remember when I was younger, everyone was getting them out, left and right, in school. I never had mine taken out, but my sister and brother did. Nowadays, they don't get take out as much. Fortunately, mine never bothered me. If your a snorer, you'll find that your snoring won't be as loud, or may even disappear altogether.
Hope you get well soon. The worst is over, I'm sure.

I had mine removed at 44 on the first day of summer of 1995.

I went pain and aggravation free for the entire ordeal.

I was eating solid food in a few days, that of course cause Pudding & Jello Withdrawl symptoms

Like Eric, mine too were rotten and causing all sorts of problems. They started going bad when I was kid.

I couldn't have them removed when I was young because my 6 yr old sister died getting hers out.
