speedometer failure

speedometer failure
i have a 97 f250 heavy duty truck. the speedometer & oddometer will all of a sudden go out ,then the tranny will start miss shifting .sometimes the overdrive code light will start blinking. the code will be speed senser malfuntion,i allready replaced the speed senser a couple of times even solderd the connection .and had wiring checked. but when the speedometer goes out i can hit the dash and the speedometer will come back on then no more miss shifting till speedometer goes out again. can it be the instrument cluster or what ?????????????

Hi whatzup and Welcome to FTE! Someone should be along to answer your question soon but I am thinking possibly a defective VSS (vehicle speed sensor). It is located on the top of the differential I believe.

Hitting the dash - to me means a loose/corroded connector on the dash

Sounds like you have a wiring connection issue. Wiggle wires and connectors etc. Tough to find.
