Ok? so we have two different answers. Well i just looked under my 2000 F350 and it pretty well looks brand new? And I live in ontario canada, so there is tones of salt here. I was just wanting to figure out how long the aluminized stuff would last?
i was looking at getting a flowmaster turbo back system, it's is pretty reasonable cause it's aluminized steel? so i was thinking that if it's lasts as long as the stock exhasut it would be worth it. but i'm not sure what the stock is made outa.

Just to let u know...i'm getting an Aeroturbine muffler resonator to install on my
4" SS straight piped(no muffler) MBRP system. I'm thinking your stock system
with a muffler delete pipe and the Aero unit will do much for u at a cheaper price.
Nut
Nut may be correct as I am going off of a quickie test I did on my system last year prior to the installation of my MBRP. I filed a clean spot off the pipe close to the BTM that I had installed along with another spot on one of the aftermarket hangers that was used to hang the BTM. Within 2 days the spot on the hanger had rusted over but the spot I had cleaned on the 3 1/2" pipe was still shiney... dirty but shiney.

I toyed with that idea too nut, but I believe the aeroturbine will set ya back about $200 or so. Now I doubled that and got a fully muffled 5", albeit aluminized. Now if you're at all worried about exhaust temps then that stock downpipe needs to go. I know that doesn't apply to you but it did me with the stock system. Bottom line...why spend $200 + and still have an almost stock system? Didn't add up for me. JMO

Understood Tenn....but i've heard the Aero unit will reduce EGT's on a stock system considerably even with the 3.5"DP because it "pulls" exhaust from the motor thereby reducing EGT's nearly on par with a 4" system and also it eliminates the annoying drone. I hate that drone and hopefully the Aero unit is going to eliminate 75% of it. If not i'm buying a flex coupler to install. Kind of experimenting for everyone's sake too.

I don't disagree with anything you've said, but I do believe stock DP is only 3". Even so, I saw on the aeroturbine site where it would reduce temps. Their site though.

I searched on the AERO unit on some forums and everyone agreed it stopped drone considerably and depending on setup reduced EGT's. With a 4"system i don't expect much EGT reduction i just want quiet in the cab and outside so i don't disturb fellow campers.Still gives plenty of whistle i hear.

the stock ehxaust it 409ss and im almost positive the stock downpipe is 3.5 because i dont remember any reducers from the 3.5 to the 3 inch downpipe. in my opinion it would be the best to buy $20 worth of tubing and straight pipe the stock exhaust. it will lower the egts more than the aeroturbine and you wont have any drone. at least i dont have any with my 4 inch straight pipe
After talking to an exhaust expert he mentioned how weird the PSD can be with the drone issue. His flex couplings sometime cure it if placed right and sometimes it requires a couple units.

OK, not wanting to start anything but the stock DP IS 3". I just measured it as it is laying on the patio in my back yard. It has a oversize large flare where it mounts to the rest of the 3.5" system.
There is a shadow on the right, but ID is definately 3.
