Its been just about a week now since i placed an order for my cab mounts.
They were supposed to get back to me with all the shipping details and all , I mean how long does this take? So i said the heck with it and cancelled my order. I also did a little snooping on the net and found Cross Canada Parts. They distribute parts for all the bodyshops. Anyways i found cab mounts with a partial floor board all in one. Couldn't order from them directly so got the boys at Walkers in P.A. to get them for me. Online price was 40.18 and i can get them from Walkers for $32.00 each! They are supposed to fit 67-79 ford trucks. I looked at the one on my 67 cab and it was identical to my 66. Even if i have to do a little trimming here and there it will be worth it.You can see pics of their parts at www.crosscanadaparts.com Just sign in as a guest.
It`s aways better to order locally face to face. If the panels come in destroyed it won`t be the customer`s problem. Most Cross Canada panels are fairly decent.
I have ordered some small items from the US and it seems to be too costly with brokerage . Sheet metal parts I get from RPM or Walkers to avoid hassles. The best was when I was coming back thru Waco (Texas Texas Mustang Parts) with a big Linclon, filled the car up with vintage Mustang parts. A 10% discount with no brokerage fees and no shipping.
Texas Mustang has a standard 10% off on orders over $1,000, 5% off $500. No problem bring parts back across the Canadian border, same as any other personal item.
Glad you could get the parts for your truck. I looked at my catalog I have from crosscanada. and it shows the cab mounts are from the 73-79 ford trucks. I do not know why if they are the same as the 66 back to the 57 why they have not listed them so.
I get my panels at Walkers here at shop costs. It is nice, but too bad a person can't get everything. My friends 64 Chevy they have no inner metal kick panels fpr replacement.
The metal is also good from them.
I am not part of your chapter but thought I would put my 2 cents in since I have ordered some stuff from the states since you can't buy any aftermarket parts in Smithers. I have found that in less it is a really good deal, the cost is close to double of the US price after you add shipping and the stupid brokerage. ($200 us will be around $350 cdn) If you can get someone to run it across the border for you to get away from the brokerage fee, that is my advice.
Free trade my butt.
I bought my gears from Randy's in washington and the price was so good that even with the shipping and brokerage it beat every price I could find in Canada - from BC to Ont. Good luck.
