looking for some advice

I am looking to purchase a ford truck 94 to 97 Diesel. What are the big diffrences in these years as far as the motor goes. Was there a particular year that was better than others? Any help is appreciated.

In 94.5 the powerstroke came out, they had 215 hp. In 97 it had 225 hp. If you can find a lower milage powerstroke you will be happy, no matter what year.

thanks for the info, why can you get more power with programmers and such with the newer powerstrokes than the 90's?

they have much larger injectors. 140 cc compared to our 98cc or so.

The 99-03 7.3 powerstrokes came stock with a larger injector (120cc I think) compared to 94.5-97 had 95cc. They also came factory with an intercooler and a wastegated turbo. But the injector size gives it the ability to make more HP with programmers and chips.
