ill be damned as i had this prob too put sum new wirelooms and rerouted those wires and now i can set timing near fac setting witch makes tires unhappy sooooooooomuch better

Here's another chime-in for cross-firing plug wires...
Mine did it too, drove me crazy, I bet I spent over $100.00 bucks at different times for new wires, only to find that after a few hundred miles, it'd start the missing, pinging, hesitation again.
Finally got seriously mad one night, went through all the plug wires, routed them correctly, and while I was at it, put on a new EGR valve sensor ( I was getting a code for it) and now the beast runs great, except for a slight hesitation right off idle at full throttle...
