tranny noise??
I have a '67 F250 highboy with NP 435 tranny. When I get him up to speed in 3rd or 4th, then let off, there comes from the tranny a horrible sustained noise, hard to describe. Sort of a loud whine, diluted grinding noise. It only lasts til things slow up a bit. He has 4.56 gears so things get tight fast, when compared to ground speed. The pickup is stock down to the 352. What is this noise??

tranny noise??
Are you sure it is comming from the tranny? Sometimes noises are hard to tell where they originate from. Could it possibly be comming from the clutch assembly or engine? Try lifting the back onto jackstands and crawl under maybe you can find something there?
