First, a great forum you folks run here. I just picked up a 71 F100 4x4 with a 360 that has been sitting for quite some time. I have replaced everything on the outside of consequence (I think)...my current prob is that the truck seem to run, then just quits. After sitting for a few minutes, it starts up and runs for a while then repeats the pattern. These stalls can happen in no real pattern. Any ideas???
Hi, Im having thoughts that it is something to do with your air/fuel delivery....is it posible that its flooding or yearning for gas or air? Then maybe when its resting it regains itself. Its the only thing I can think of right now..
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

Well...that is one thing I havent checked. The fuel filter looked good, but the pump? Who knows. It just did it again this evening. It will backfirwe, sounds like it is starving, and die. After sitting for about 10-15 minutes, it will start up again. Strange...
I would check the fuel pump/filter. First remove the ignition coil wire so ti will not start. Remove the rubber fuel line from the carb and route it into a 1 gallon gas can. Then turn the engine over for about 15 seconds to see if fule is being delivered on a regular basis. If the fuel stops or has gaps in the delivery, chances are the fuel pump is bad. Always replace the filter when in question.
Could the float and needle be stuck in the almost closed position and allowing only a minimal amount of fuel into the bowl? Just my two cents worth!
