reverse shackle? do you mean on that has the shackle at the front and the pivot at the front? i dont see how, as the axle is pushed backwards as it hits obstacles in forward driving, but if it were backwards, the shackle wouldn't be there to absorb some shock.
for a leveling kit, i would go with a complete new spring pack and new shocks. that is what i did, and i love it. it gives a smoother and more progressive ride. it's more firm, but not buckboard stiff. doesn't ride like a car anymore. still pushes around tight (how tight can you turn with a 172" WB ) turns some, but not as bad as stock. some people have gone the cheaper route, and added an "add-a-leaf, which is just another leaf that you slide in under the stock springs to help give them support. along with the support comes more load bearing capacity, which means a stiffer ride.
i got my kit off ebay, at $320 its a great deal with new packs.
I have read that you can get a better ride from a reverse shackle.
My b-n-l is about to have it done to his 6.0 F350.
Guess I better hide and watch before I type.
I think someone is confused - you WANT the shackles where they are now. They "reversal" kits and advertised "better ride" are for the OBS trucks that had the shackles right under the front bumper, instead of at the back of the spring.
