since the hit and run? That doesnt sound good. But When I get back from vacation its going to be open season on this engine Im going to finish it and register so I have something to play with.
Yeah, drivers bedside is a mess, rear bumper was broken and leaf spring is bent. I've bought a bunch of stuff to fix it better than before, even plan to get a donor truck to fill in for even more, hope to sell off the left overs for more mod money.
Were the heads checked for straightness? A good shop will do that anyway, but make sure they are not warped or cracked.
If they're cracked - they're bookends. But if they're a little out of true they can be surfaced.
You can also up the compression a little by surfacing heads if you have enough clearance between the valves and piston tops, but remember that pump gas octane is getting worse and worse!
