My cover is plumb wore out. The pins on the back are worn off and it just lays in there crooked. I suspect it was vibrated to death. 361,560 miles. Does anyone know where they sell these besides the stealership? Or does anyone have an extra laying around?
Note to mods: Tried to figure out where to list this need in the classifieds. There was no spot for diesels or powerstrokes or 96 F350.
shoot, i've got one off my 96 F350 that is just sitting in the garage. PM me if you are truely interested in buying it!
The Man
Haven't been able to get in touch with The Man. I am truly interested in getting a cover. I can't afford e-bay prices but let me know if there are any available or if anyone can get in touch with The Man.
I have a 97 cover but no bracket if you want it, PM me.
As a note - the reason mine is off, the dealer broke the OEM plastic bracket (didnt bother to replace it or tell me, just pitched the cover behind my seat). I eventually discovered it and insisted they give me a new bracket. The original plastic bracket on 97s was "replaced" with a newer style and they reused the part number. The new metal bracket would go onto the motor like it should but was defectively designed such that the cover would not go on once the bracket was in place. If you dont have a useable bracket, you are wasting your time. They dont make one anymore and you cant find them anywhere I have looked.
Mine is also sitting in the garage. All it is good for is getting in the way when ever the time comes to change the fuel filter. And I think it acts like a good heat shield, it keeps the heat in the engine and the cooler air out. not a good thing
Anyone know the part number for the 2001 engine cover bracket and two plastic coated nuts? One of the studs is broken off on the bracket (inside the nut) and I want to order a new one. The counter guy at the Ford dealer can't seem to locate the P/N.
