tranny slipping?
Is the tranny just slipping? Whats the deal? Have not taken it in yet but I will. Just want to hear what you guys have to say first so I have proper ammunition.
Do you have a 6-speed auto? I've been out of touch too long. I though the new tranny was a 5-speed. If it's a 5-speed, you may be mistaking the torque converter lock-up for a 5th shift.
Your transmission is "hunting". It's perfectly normal. When you get in this situation (not enough torque for high gear, too much for the lower gear) the correct action is to manually downshift out of the higher gear and let your truck climb the hill. You can put it back into overdrive or whatever once the terrain flattens out. Allowing the tranny to hunt will cause excessive heat and premature wear. This is covered in the manual that came in your glovebox.
Or you can spend big $$$ and install lower gears in your differential(s).

Correct about the ratio and 6" lift but it ended up being the EGR valve sticking so they swapped it out and the issue went away...
