I have 2 power ports and both are always active. Is there anyway i can make one only active when the engine is on? Thanks

I guess you could rewire it to a power source that was only got power when the engine is on. Or you could install a switch of some sort to cut it on and off.

Seems to me a normally open when hot (engine on), power relay, would do it.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it annoying if a power port doesn't work with the ignition off. Take my wife's car for example. I can't charge my (or her) cell phone unless the car is running. In my truck, I don't have to worry about it.

Yes, install a relay that draws its power from the 12v power point and its switching power from an IGN ON source, such as the radio. The IGN ON source will take less then 1/2 amp to power the relay, so going from one side of the fuse for the the relay is okay as long as the circuit is 10 amps or more. Radio, heater, power windows, etc.

Use the "brighter whites" light tech article for a tutorial on wriing relays and install the relay behind the dash. You do not need any fuses because both the IGN ON and LIGHTER 12V feeds are fuse protected anyway.
