Door Levers

I obtained my 65 from my father in law. It is supposed to be a graduation gift for my 16 year old daughter but I have traded her for the promise of a late 80's early 90's mustang when she graduates in 2008.

Anyway the question I have is the truck only had one window crank and one door lever when my father in law bought it. He put the door lever on the passenger side for a window crank and then he got the "brilliant" idea to put little pairs of vise grips on for the door levers. Now the door lever posts are pretty much rounded off. Will the door levers from 65 - 79 f150's interchange or am I going to have to find another 65? Also how hard / easy is it to remove and replace these posts.

They are ez to replace, there are 3 screws around the post, thak them out and the post will go into the door, on the other end is a slot that once the lever is hanging down will slip off. I think that 61-66 door pieces will all work, I don't think any of the newer ones will work, don't know for sure.

Door pulls are 61 to 66 specific.

NPD a site sponsor carries new reproductions.

Sounds like need to replace the 'window regulator shaft' and not sure if they make them for the 61-66. Have seen them for the 57-60. A few of the Ford parts suppliers carry the entire regulator, can run up to $100. Attempted to replace shaft on my 65 and was not successful. If recall, have to grind out old rivets from shaft housing, the problem I had was securing the housing once the replacement shaft was installed. Found there are certain 61-66 parts to look for during my junk yard scavenging days, window regulars is one of the them. Was able to repair 1 of the shafts by taking mini rectangular file and cleaning up the grooves on shaft. If grooves are rounded off, 1 option may be to remove regulator and tap the shaft and incert screw. Securing using just existing screw believe will eventually wear down and faced with same problem. Ideally, finding replacement in salvage yard would be best solution, they are interchangeable 61-66, and there is a Rt and Lf side. Perhaps knowledgeable member can provide additional info or suggestions.

Sorry, that's what I get for not reading post correctly. Believe most of info still applies. Have not seen door handle repair kits for 61-66. Finding after market replacement may be easier to come-by and cheaper. O well, have my input regarding window regulators if issue comes up.
