Well, Im havin a little trouble with the engine I dropped in my turck. It runs good, no smoke, no bad noises and is perfect. Cept for the fact that the no. 4 cyl wont fire. I thought the injector was bad, cause the plug was clean after I ran it for a while. I replaced the injector with one from my old engine and it seemed to help a little bit, but it still shakes at idle. Also, wheever it is in a dirve rear it almost stalls and runs really rough. What could be wrong, is something plugged up?? I'm a little bit frustrated but I wanna get it running good. thanks guys.
Check the firing order, you could have the wrong firing order for the new engine. I suspect this is the case since you say your engine is shaking and stalling in gear.
Trucks a 92 with an 89 302, fully rebuilt/w 44,000 miles. I swapped the wiring harness and any new parts/sensors I had installed on the old engine. Both are SD. When I pulled the bad injector(I suspected) out the hole it goes into was al nasty and had black junk in it. Could the hole be plugged, I dont think so but I guess it could be possible. I'll ck the firing order, I messed it up the first time so I guess I coulda done it again. I know the injectors getting power and resistance is where it sould be. I hope its something simple that I just over-looked, i hope!
Yea, thats what Im gonna do, clean out all the injector holes in the manifold. Can I use carb cleaner or somehting similar to do that and not have it hurt the injectors?? It sat for a year so I wouldnt doubt that things are gummed up.
What compression #s are you running? There could be a valve not seating or bad rings or head gasket or ? A compression check would rule out a few of these.
