After reading all the posts on the subject my truck too is displying the symptoms of warped rotors. I haven't taken the wheel off yet to take a look but could someone list the steps to get the caliper out of the way and the rotor off so I can throw on a new set. Or is it too much of a PITA to deal with? Scale of 1 to 10: mechanical ability 7, special tools on hand 1. Cheers.
this is really an easy job. what type of truck do you have? just remove the wheel, take off the caliper mounting bolts, remove the caliper, caliper mounting bracket, and the rotor will slide right off. no special tools, just a set of metric sockets and a couple cold ones. be sure to clean and lube the slide pins real well when you re-install the calipers. i definately wouldnt pay anyone.... should only take about 15-20 minutes per side if you already have the parts on hand to replace everything new. goodluck !!!
It's easy once you get the wheel off you'll see how it goes together! If you're having problmes with rotors take a look at the Powerslot Cyro'ed rotors and Hawk pads. Shorter stops, no fade and no warpage and not much more money the replacing stock parts again either! Call us if you have any questions on them etc!
Hey, same deal with the rotors warped a little with me. anyone with a good solution on how to take off the rotor when it has "fused" itself to the truck with rust...the front was fine because the previous owner had done some work up there and had recently had them off....no prob there and they fell right off...but the back rotors I could not get off....penitrating oil didn't work. tapping didn't work, pulling didn't work. can anyone help with that one?

Just have to ask: Did you have your e-brake on? If so...then that is likely the problem. The only reason I ask...is that it has been discussed here before.
If not...then hitting it with a sledge and a 2x4 will usually do the trick. May have to pound on it for awhile.
