I have a 2000 with ZF6. Driving down the interstate and went to get off. Truck wouldnt downshift or go in any gear in that matter.
I pulled the black cylinder going into bellhousing. Is that the master or slave cylinder or are those the same thing only different terminology?
The metal push rod for the fork just fell out and part of the plastic arrow piece on the end of the rod were broken.
So I need a new cylinder. I can hear the clutch plates chattering when I was trying to get the truck into gear. The clutch was not disengaging at all.
Where do I get the new cylinder?
I might as well do new clutch, TO bearing, Pilot bearing.
South Bend is the one that seems to be the one to go with. Which one? I have a chip with top tune of 140hp. Should I get the kit that goes from that huge single mass to a regular flywheel?
TO bearing will be the Kevlar of course. Should I replace the fork also?
Anything else? Any distributors running good deals right now? I am doing this project this weekend (april 8-9)
The one at the firewall is the clutch master. The slave cylinder is in the bellhousing. You already have a huge single mass flywheel. You just need a different one if you are switching to the LUK clutch, which SBC clutches are....modified LUK's.
Gotcha thanks cookie. I went ahead and ordered the MU1944 Con Organic (good for 350hp and 750tq) through Black Cloud. Figured that would be enough. Comes with new flywheel, pivot bushing and pilot bushing. Got the new clutch fork also. I guess I will get the slave cylinder from Napa ($70)
You can get a new master and slave cylinder from Ford for about $100.00. It comes completely assembled and prebled, just snap it in (no tools involved) and its done. I think it is worth it just so you don't have to bleed the system.
Get the whole kit from ford prebled, plus it was upgraded from what you originally had. The broken piece you found is supposed to be broken, that is how they are shipped and when you push down on the clutch for the first time it snaps and breaks. You should order a new pushrod that goes through fire wall too if you order the kit, otherwise you will need to cut the old one out to reuse.
I have A 2000 SD with A luk clutch kit. I have recently been having problems with the clutch lunging when the pedal is let out a hair off the floor. I was told it was the master cylinder or the slave cylinder. I replaced the whole works along with the pedal bushing. That did not solve the problem at all. The problem is very inconsistent. It does it warm and cold. Sometimes it will go a week with no problems other times it will happen 10 times in a row. I also put in a new clutc fork with the clutch. PLEASE HELP ME!!
