I just bought an '81 F-250 LWB with an 351W, AT, & 4WD for parts. The guy I bought it from said that he has lost the keys to it and he thinks the key switch might be busted anyway, so my question is How do you change the key switch?
Remove the positive side terminal on the battery (very important)
.Remove the horn cover, then take the nut off for the steering wheel. to remove the steering wheel you may need a puller. I generaly pull up by hand slight jerking side to side and they come off. After you have the3 steeering wheel off you need to unscrew the directional assembly. You will see a sort of half aluminum barrel to the right side. there should be a small hole . you need to put the key in the run position. then stick someting into the hole to release the ignition switch while gentaly pully the switch. . then hook each wire to new switch in the same positions as the old switch. then it's pretty much reverse order.
