Yamaha Rhino

Anyone own one of these?

I have been debating getting a quad, but know the fiance wants one and that would mean 2 quads AND a trailer. Then we looked at the Rhino and she liked it. With the rhino I would only have to buy one vehicle and I think I could fit it in my LB superduty with toolbox. I think the rear tires would rest on the end of the tailgate. It weighs 1000 lbs and seems like alot of fun and very well built. Hopefully the 2007 will have a 700cc fuel injected raptor engine.

Anyone have any positive or negative experiences? How about loading it with ramps and all that weight on the tailgate?

Cheers,
Jaz

I just bought a new Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI and it is awsome! The independent suspension rides like a car. And plenty of power. It just fits in the back of my F-350 superduty behind my 110 gal fuel tank.

Customz- The Yamama Rhino is a very nice machine, and as many uses,
My wife and myself choose quads because we both like to drive, And a lot of the trail we ride will only allow quads 50" and under on them. We load the toy hauler with the quads and enjoy a long weekend of trail riding, Always a good time and have meet some really nice people

My dad sells real estate and I got ride his boss's Rhino across a couple of acres of hunting land and it was great. That removable windsheild comes in handy for blocking tree branches. I put that Rhino through every kind of offroad hell I could find and I never even really had to put it in 4x4.

Don't be that guy with a rhino or buying an extra quad?

I was thinking about the rhino and I don't think it is going to be a very good workout. In all fairness though it will probably break less and I'll be a lot less likely to get hurt. WoW! That's the most responsible thing I've ever said.

I would like to get a Rhino for my Wife and Daughter to ride around on when we go riding. Definitely going to wait until it's fuel injected.

I've not seen a negative article about one to date.

I think a raptor 700 is gonna be alot more fun. I am worried about my fiance getting hurt, though. She doesn't like manual transmissions so finding her a quad she likes is gonna be no easy task.

My girl and I went through the same thing. I'd been riding Banshee's for years so when I came to PA, I had to find something to run up here in the woods. I thought about the Rhino but it's too big for the trails out here (ended up getting a Kodiak 450). I'm not sure where you're ridin in AZ but if you get a couple of quads, then you can hit the dunes in Cali or the desert trails (wouldn't be as much fun in a rhino) . I think having your own toy would be more enjoyable, plus think about the silence you can enjoy (no back seat drivers!!!). ha ha. Either choice though, I'm sure you'll have fun with it. My little brother has a Rhino that he uses for huntin' out in AZ and loves it, beats the crap out of it and it keeps on kickin' (that Grizzly engine is ruthless!)

As for finding something for her to run, get a utility ATV with an auto or something. My girl won't run a manual either so I bought her a 150 Redcat (auto with a "sport" look). She won't run it too hard so I figured this would work just fine, and so far it has.

I have vacillated the last couple of years between a Rhino or the Polaris...and have done nothing as I am still happy with my souped / lifted Golf Carts.

With the available power last year, I almost went with the Polaris but couldn't justify the expense. After driving the Rhino I was disappointed engine performance ans it seemed the governor was really holding it back. If that "fell off" I think I would have really liked it.

Probably just as well that I didn't buy one...if I did I'd have to buy another trailer to move it and the golf cart around.

BTW: I'm not sure that the longer wheel based Rhino will fit in your truck with the tool box. My golf cart barely fits with rear tires on the tail gate. Kinda top heavy as well.

What's the wb on the golf cart and overall length? I think the rhino bed would hang out the back.

Silver-can your girl keep up with the 150?

I'm not sure right now. The front tires are up against the tool box and the rear tires on box side of the tailgate. This cart has a dump bed and while it would clear the tool box I don't want to take a chance on the rear fenders coming in contact with the tool box. That's why I have it front facing.

BTW: Getting up the ramp is no sweat...backing off of it can be a little spooky when applying the brakes... but, it has a greater ground clearance than your Rhino would have.

A small trailer for that pup would likely be in the $ 500.00 / $ 700.00 range...depending on goodies.

I haven't bought a new farm trailer since mine was stolen but, may buy a cart size trailer soon.

That is an easy fix. If i remember correctly you can get another 20 or so mph out of them if you change to the grizzly cdi and clutch sheaves.

Check out www.atvfrontier.com. There is a few Rhino owners over there, and a pretty big member base that owns just about every type of atv made. Lots of knowledge and very little of the childish stuff that you can find on other atv boards. The board mostly deals with 4x4's but there is a little of everything.
