Hello
I got a 79 F 150 supercab 400 4sp 4x4.. It was my dads and I remember being with him when he bought it new. He has passed away and I am battleing with the thought of selling it or not. I am wondering if I do sell it how much should I ask. It has 88000 miles and was babied but does have rust on rear wheel wells It does run great and everything works fine. Interior is excellent and tires pretty new. There is a picture in my Gallery if anyone wants to look. It is a tough decision but would appreciate some thoughts...
Thanks
I paid $5500 for mine in August. Its a 79 Supercab 4x4, 400,c6auto, factory a/c, tilt wheel. It was a second owner truck from N.C.. It had 5000 miles on a engine/tranny rebuild when I bought it. It had a small rust bubble behind rear wheel well, and a little starting behind the Supercab window. It was/is a very clean and tight truck. It drives like new! See pics in my gallery. Mike
Looks good to me, $5500 obo. You have guys in Canada selling the same thing for $6000 to $10,000. Me personnally, I would use it for a winter drive, but that all depends on where you are located.
Keep it and drive it occasionally. You will never forgive yourself if you sell it. Another vehicle is worth something just for alternate transportation and the expenses of keeping it around are minimal. A new set of wipers and an oil change annually at least. Coolant change semi-annually. A new battery every 4 years or so. New tires every 10 years. Insurance etc for pleasure only with a mileage cap is not to bad. Altogether not bad when you consider the cost of a rental when the newer vehicle is in the shop for some odd computer sensor mess.
If you have room to keep it, don't sell it.
If it was me and I didn't have room to keep it, I would sell other vehicles till I did. There is a sentimental value with that truck you will never have with one you bought yourself.
My truck that my dad bought brand new, was stolen. I love the 73-79 trucks and as I look for a replacement, I can't even come close to finding one, even when I look at trucks worth more than mine was. So my vote is to keep it. If the value is $2000 or $20000, I would think it will be worth more to you than it is for anyone else. Just my $.02
