D-tuned my 05 PSD to take it into the dealer to get the round of recalls associated with 05E15. Got the truck back...it seems to run a lot quieter but lagged in the "get up and go". Ran a tank of fuel through it to see the mileage...not a noticable change. When I went to load my Superchip back into the truck it wouldn't load and gave me a error code and some numbers to give superchip tech dudes. I call them and they say send it back (2nd time) and they will reprogram it to work with the new software ford loaded in my truck.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Am I getting the run around? Is my superchip going to be void after the warranty runs out and I have to get another reflash?
Superchips is a good company to work with. We never have problems that they cant fix. I cant imagine that they would say "Your tuner is to old we dont care about you" the new flashpaq will make it easier for both sides. They will be able to make an update for you to load into the unit yourself. No more shipping back and forth.....we hope anyway.
Yes it is being replaced...and it will only cost me the price of one of the new tuners!!! So basically I paid for a tuner that would program my truck for a limited time frame. That information would have weighed in my choice of tuners 6 months ago when I bought mine. If superchips take another entire MONTH to get my tuner back to me this time...they will have had my tuner almost as long as me!
Kind of reminds me of the police radar gun vs. the radar detectors...they were made by the same company!!! New technology rendered the radar detectors useless so customers had to buy new radar detectors! Pretty good way of ensuring you have customers isn't it...
Im not saying what you did was wrong, but I always tell them there is nothing wrong with the truck so dont touch it. Unless your having a problem I dont see the need for a reflash. Your tuner is only going to change everything the dealer did to it anyway. What would you gain by having the reflash? I find it strange that superchips didnt just re program your original tuner. Did they give you a reason for this?
