Fairfield, CA
Just wanted to let you all know that it was a pleasure to get to know you guys and to learn so much from you guys about repairing these beasts and be able to drive it.
We had downsized a kid and needed to get an economy car and she was getting old and the little woman was getting nervous about it. It had the original tranny and motor with updates as I have said here. The noise from what I thought was the timing chain went away.
If anyone is interested, the van is at Fairfield Dodge here in California. I got $1,500 for it on a trade in (not a new caravan!!!).
It ran flawlessly from Yreka to Fairfield and it had a bath prior to leaving. I will miss the room and the fact that it was paid for.
Thanks guys for the times and the little woman says we are a bunch of freaks. I just say, "Hey we like our cars and we like to keep them running". She just laughs. I told her hey, if it wasn't for them, we would be running kids through the back hatch and through the passenger door to the back, as well as many other problems we were able to fix with all the knowledge we have.
Take care, I'll stop by from time to time.

, bought a Neon SXT. Couldn't beat the price, over $6,000 off MSRP. They were unloading them and we got another $1,000 off during negotiations (funny what they do when you tell them you don't need the car) and they gave us $1,500 for the van. Luckily the paint was very good condtion as it was garaged for most of it's life and with my DIY capabilities and with the help I received here, it never stranded us. It did keep Mamma safe but with gas prices up and a kid gone, and the Yukon getting such awesome mileage, we had to get an economy car. I do not think I will find the camaraderie that I experienced here. You guys were like one big Aero family (okay she may be right, freaks
)I hope someone will buy it and take care of it. Worse thing wrong with it when I retired her was the fact that it had a lot of miles. The interior had a couple of coffee spills, the floor mats were clean, rug clean, no tears in upholstery, paint was very clean, no dull finish at all, a small dent above rear driver wheel (golf ball from kids I suspect), a couple of deep scratches in the passenger side (kids riding by on bikes, now banned from that, they actually walk by the cars now
). The engine ran great, I thought the timing chain was going but the noise went away (could still be shot) but I cruised going 80 from Yreka to Fairfield. The power steering leaked from the pressure hose fittings (couldn't find right o'rings for that, was trying different sizes). It even had new Toyo Z800 tires, less than a year old on her. She will be missed, thats why I wanted you all to know where it was. I hope it's taken care of the rest of it's life. I kinda hated to get rid of it, but gas prices and we both were getting nervous about it's age and miles, plus we wanted a new car that was not associated with our prior lives (pre divorce car for her, I got rid of mine when we bought the Yukon).
So, I will take that Aero White and tip it up to her and to you guys for the help. I will stop by as I can offer some advise that I learned myself on the journey.
Take care.
Aaron
