There is a slant cab in PU's LTD owned by a guy named Mike Chaffers (? I think) that has a bitchin cover that sort of disappears. Ed Oe might be able to direct you to some photos, maybe from the western nats last year. Check it out before you start spending $$$$
Hi Joe...I run a *******'s lid on my '53. Had it for 1 year now and haven't had any problems, I really like it. If you get one, get back with me, I have a tip about installation.....P.S. are you going to the Ks. speedway for GoodGuys, I still owe you one!

XFM....
Thanks XFM, just what I wanted to hear. I am considering the ******* but the instructions they faxed me don't inform much as to our trucks. Lincoln for sure for Americruise, hopefull on KS.
HEy Joe you know me. Mike isn't in Pickups LImited but I can find out who and where he got this bed cover. I don't remember from when I talked with him at the Knotts show. RJ also has spoken to Mike and might recall since we both were checking it out and asking questions about it with Mike. Thie is Mike truck. I'm sure you seen it on mag covers and even Muffler boxes.
I have a hard top on my 54 - It's like the one in MidFifty's and Sac Ford - perhaps a *******. PO put it on. Pros and cons:
Pros - lockable (if I had the key); absolutely water tight; good place to set stuff when working in the garage
Cons - I prefer the soft-top, ol'Skool look as mentioned by Kyle; a real pain to remove with one person; and if you're not somewhere you can leave it (like that garage sale you just drove by and want to take that Craftsman rolling tool chest home with you), you're stuck.
I plan to replace mine with the soft velcro cover. My hard top is for sale cheap!
I also like the idea of a velcro cover. I have one on my 03 Ranger but that has auminum rails (Truxedo). I see adversements for the 53-56 (the type that the velcro fastens to the bottom of the bed rail. I have a 49. Anyone know if the 53-56 cover would fit? Who makes a velcro cover to fit the earlier beds?

i think that is the cover i'm looking for. some of the hard covers won't work with the chains. what state are you in?
I sure do Ed, as edsf100. The last name thru me, won't again. Your 56 is very impressive. I have seen coverage of the truck in your post, don't remember much about bed cover except seems like its metal painted to match the truck. I am not looking to be trick, just a good cover. I also like the look of old style covers better, but they offer no security. I have a hard cover on my late model F150 and although it is a pain when you haul something tall [I just leave it up or tie it into posistion] that outweighs a lack of security imo. I do not intend to haul big stuff in my 53 and I want to be able to secure items in the bed. So I think the ******** cover is for me. Thanks for all the replies and info. Joe
Nothin better than the new 2 pc aluminum from Pro's Pick, hard, secure,1 guy can remove half at a time, perfect for loading 1/2 of bed, just fold over.
I posted a picture of the other end of Mike's truck in my gallery. It has a pretty good view of the cover. There are also a couple of other pictures of different covers in there.
