I have located a 66 ford 8 door van that runs and drives great the owner told me the 8 door vans were rare its a very cool van and fairly straight does anyone have any info on these creatures, would be a cool daily driver.
Go for it man, sounds cool and interesting. What is under the hood? I wonder if the vans used the new twin I beam suspension like most the 65-up trucks. I think some of the larger trucks still used the earlier straight axle after 65. never thought about a van till now. Take a look if you will.....
I believe he's talking about a "Falcon" based Econoline. They were all straight axle, with inline sixes.
These are starting to become collectible. Not worth a lot, but there is some interest out there. Dennis Carpenter has a good portion of parts for them in his Ford truck catalog.
Biggest problem with these (as usual) is rust. They do make an assortment of patch panels for them. Doors can be hard to find. One of my 'local' junkyards has several Econolines like these, rusty, but mostly complete.
It is a straight axle it has two tiny bucket seats with an I-6 for a console
It looks pretty straight but I havnt went over it with a magnet yet it has two sets of window-less doors on both sides and it does have windows on the barn doors out back
