1963 Unibody - HELP NEEDED
Thanks in advance!
Welcome to the 61-66 F Series Forum of the FTE Website perryd
I would not say the truck you have is "rare" although it is Highly Desirable and Very Collectable. For what it's worth, FoMoCo, the manufacturer called the model an Integral Bed Pick Up Truck. The term "Unibody" is actually hobbyists slang, a colloquialism in fact.
As with any collectable item the value is first condition based even more than rarity or uniquness. Also it will be difficult to prove value and condition without having it in record prior to the collision. Often Insurance Companies will go to DMV Records to see what the current owner paid for the vehicle.
So what I'm going to tell you is if the truck is solid, and complete, and fairly original you might be able to have a certified Appraiser make an appraisal on it even in a wrecked condition.
This could establish a "base Value" Insurance people would have to deal with. It would also give you a "professional" expert opinion admissable in court proceedings. Without that sort of documentation, or the prior documentation I mentioned above, all that you have is "say so" & say so is basically hear say and hear say has no weight in an evidentiary way. There is no "authority" plus if you gather all the evidence by yourself, it will only be unofficial opinion.
Anybody else reading this, take this message. Establish a net worth Value for your "Slick" before you actually need one for something like this.
If you have collectors Insurance you can name the value you insure for, and that establishes the worth in 2 ways. 1, what you value it at and are willing to pay to cover, and 2 what an insurance company agrees is a value that they are willing to insure.
Insurance information and an Appraisal by a Licensed Auto Appraiser will establish the value yoyu can attempt to collect for, and the "other" Insurance company will be forced to deal with.
