Talking CB radio

i just got done putting a cb in my truck. it is a 1977 midland 77-838 that my dad took out of his 75 chebby van and it has been sitting down staris stareing at me for a while. today was a nice day so i pulled the wires from his van and found his old antenna and went at it. bout an hour later its up and running. the antenna is a magnetic base 3ft steel. i am a good 5 miles from any big interstate (66) and 13+ miles from the major trucking road (81) and people were coming in loud and clear.

Cool

Get you a linear amplifier and you will be even happier with the results.

Get a Cb with SSB, and have 12 legal watts of power on the SSB side. And still use the regular CB frequencies at 4 watts.

And drive people nuts with regular cbs, when they hear nothing but garbled "bwupwapwopawupwup" noises coming from their radios.

That Midland radio you have is probably as good or better as any now a days. I had a T-Berry years ago. I wish I still had it.....

I have a Galaxy 949, and I would bet the Midland you have will out talk it.

If you are hearing people talk 5 miles away in the day time, you are doing really well. A steel antenna is always the best.

Good luck with it.
