hey fellas,
i was just offered a 460 engine today from a fellow FTE'R. so i have a few questionsl.
if i get this will the old tranny from my 351 bolt up to the 460? {the old tranny is the NP~ manny tranny}
will the new 460 drop in without changing much? and what would i have to beef up for the truck to handle this extra power?
any additional info would be great!!! thanks for all and any help Mitch
I assume that is a 351 "M" engine. The bolt pattern should be the same. You'll need engine mounts and towers, exhaust manifold/headers, clutch... though. L&L has engine mount kits, HD clutches, etc. You name it.
What year engine did you get? Any mods?
i dont know what year it is. i just talked to the guy about it today for like 2 seconds because i did not want to do it at first. but i got to thinking, and now i wnat to do it.
so what do you think the total price of the swap is going to be?
thanks for the info man!!!!
Mitch
I was looking back and i did not see any. i did not look that good so i might have missed them. ill give it another look.
but if you could find somthing and post it up i would appreciate it!!!
thanks
Mitch
oh i also forgot to mention that the truck i have now is only 2wd. does that change anything? or do i still need to get headers and towers and a clutch change?
and what are towers?
thanks
Mitch
If you can find a truck that has a 460 in it, it would be alot easier. It would already have the right exhaust manifolds, you can use the motor mounts off the truck, the only thing you'll have to buy is the stuff for the manual tranny, like the flywheel and stuff.
