holy crap.

I get off of school, my truck won't start. Dead battery, no big deal, eh? Wrong. Ignition is dead, won't start unless i turn the key on, go under the hood and cross the ignition with a screw driver to start it.

Go into work (i deliver food) 5th delivery, on my way home i smell some brakes, i think no big deal, i had to stop kind of quick back there, probably just heated them up some. Wrong, get back to the store and the back left wheel is smoking and stinks like all hell. This was after i put 50 dollars worth of gas in, i only made 19 dollars because i had to leave after being there 2 hours.

I think its time to trade this truck in.

So everytime you go on a delivery you have to open the hood and use the screwdriver? Probably isnt nothing much wrong, rear brakes out of adjustment and what not, cheap fix.

If i shut it off. I usually just leave it run as its not too long in between deliveries and i don't want to replace a starter motor.

Sounds like you have the emergency brake cable sticking and causing the lining to drag. That is not a hard fix (@ $30). The ignition soleniod is also another easy fix.

I don't really care how hard they are to fix, the point is i shouldn't have to be fixing this stuff on a truck w/60,000 miles. Just annoying as hell.

As to the avatar, another user on this site had it a long time ago and i swiped it from them.

thanks for the suggestions on the fixes though

Paul

Well then buy a bicycle if you dont want to do maintainence on your vehicle which is used for deliveries. 60k miles can be alot if it is contstant stop and go. You can go 60k on the highway and the truck will smell, sound and feel like new. 60k stop and go day in and day out...will look and run like 120k. I have 110k on mine and it is all highway....paint, engine interior all look like new still with no rattles or squeaks and it runs great.

lookie here buddy, i've only been delivering for a few weeks and i've been using a camry for most of it. it aint broke.

I just had 700 dollars worth a maintance done to it. Brakes and ball joints, oil change and filter.

I started thsi thread for the sole purpose of complaining, if you don't like it don't respond.

edit: btw, what does delivering food have to do with the emergency brake (ok, i can see this maybe the extra stops could affect it..) or the ignition?

well,

The forum is here for people to post questions about their trucks and for all of us to help eachother out. If you don't want to maintance your truck, thats fine but don't complain when you have to pay to have it fixed. 700 bucks to change oil and filter, ball joints, and brakes could of been done by you for 300 mabey. Brakes takes about 2 hrs. if your slow and oil takes 15 minutes and a the ball joints you need a press, so that you may need to get done by someone else if you don't have access to it. Billybob knows his stuff like most of us so, instead of complaining about your truck learn how to fix it or don't complain when you have to pay....Everything has to be fixed sometime, thats just the way it is so get used to if if you don't want to get dirty and fix it yourself...

have a good one

Wow....and I thought I had a bad temper.

Maybe next time you whine about your truck, you will give a few more details...such as delivering only for a few weeks...etc.

Sheesh. Ahh well...guess I will wait for the infamous maint. free truck. Then I will complain when it breaks.

And if you don't want a response...then why post? Isn't that what forums are for?

I usually bitch to my dog or my horses when I don't want a response. Works pretty good.

Look, you assumed i'd been delivering for a while. Why should i post how long i've been delivering when its not even related to the topic at hand. I just wanted to vent about my ignition and emergency brake. I don't need to be told that i need to do maintanance and this and that. I know I have to do maintainnace. Thats why I paid for it to be done.

A truck shouldn't need an ignition at 60,000 miles, or an emergency brake problems. Thats all i'm saying.

And you didn't answer the question: what does delivering food have to do with an ignition ?

Where did i say i didn't want a response?? I said don't respond if you don't like whats in thread, or if you're going to try to start something.

I'm sure you've helped plenty of people here, and thats good. I appreciate that, I just wasn't looking for a lesson on maintanance.

OK...section for section......Then I'm unsubcribing from this post. It is getting stupid.

1 - Assumption is the mother of all bitches. OK...I assumed. my bad. Enough.
2 - Delivering...if you leave your truck running while delivering, then no, maybe it won't have an issue and you are braver than me. But stopping engine and restarting...well, extra wear on ignition. Enough of an answer?
3 - This is a FORUM. People post here to get answers, responses and opinions. Usually it is all friendly and not a bitch session which this seems to have turned into. If you didn't want any responses, then say so. Otherwise you will get them. Maybe even if you say you don't want one. If you don't care what people have to offer for suggestions, then unsuscribe from the post. There is a great little link on the email you get telling you to CLICK HERE TO UNSUBCRIBE. Works nicely. Or just ignore and don't respond.
and finally...
4 - I wasn't giving a lesson in maint. or even trying. Was just a suggestion to a nasty post. But since you seem to question how deliveries can affect ignition, well then may I suggest a Haynes manual.

And last but not least.....

NICE ***!!!!!

I want the rest of the picture.

I'M OUTTA HERE!!!!!!

PEACE!
