My problem, tranny shifts fine up until overdrive, then it feels like the TC locks/unlucks (rpms jump about 300) for about 1-2 seconds and will do it randomally 2-3 times a minute. No codes, no clutch material in the oil, and I have the sonnax kit so I think my tranny is fine. I noticed the third brake light was blown, so I replaced the bulb and it still does it. I have the evolution, but i set it on tow or switch back to stock , never race or higher. I've checked all the fuses and even replaced the vss or rabs sensor in the rear diff, and it still won't go away. It almost feels like I'm tapping the brakes while driving, but I don't have an ABS light or the brake lights light up at all when it happens. I'm almost getting frustrated enough to go to the dealer! Anybody else go through this?
Never had that prob Jerme, but read some threads about it. I guess you know that the PCM unlocks the TC when you apply the brakes.Guys have posted about probs w/the brake light circuit, bad sockets, melted, stuff like that.
that is what i was gonna say. did you try to reset pcm yet?
That, is something i haven't done yet... Can I unplug the batteries or is there a fuse I can pull? The brake light that blew was melted but the new bulb still lit so I thought it was okay. Maybe I'll pull it out again and make sure no wires are exposed.
Mine does that when pulling a trailer. I have determined that somehow the electrical connection between the truck and trailer is broken. I think this is because the ground is carried back to the truck through the trailer hitch (which is rusty!) after many miles the connection is better and the downshift/upshifting stops. AND I think, if I remember, it only does it when the lights are on. So maybe yours is an electrical problem. I think somehow it is related to the brakes but I have no hard evidence of that.
I had a problem with my cruise control kicking off and sometimes not working at all. I pulled the battery cables to clean the terminals and turned on the lights to totaly drain the system of power and now my cruise is working fine and my tranny shifts better. I told my dad about what I did because he was complaining that his 2002 sd wasn't shifting into od till over 50mph so he tried it now his tranny is back to normal. Just make sure that you disconnect both batteries I had mine disconnected for about 10 mins but I am sure It wouldn't have to be that long. I hope it works for you .
I was thinking about my TC too, cuda jim, but when I took it in to change the oil and filter the TC didn't have a drain plug, but the magnet in the pan was spotless. I pulled the 22 fuse last night and put it back in before heading to work this morning, still does it. Cruise control does work, but it'll even lock/unlock while cruising. Can't find any exposed wires anywhere, lights are working, flashers are working, no blown fuses, doesn't matter if the lights are on or off. I'm stumped. I'll drain the batteries today and see if that helps.
