Fuel Filter

So I went to the International dealer and picked up the 6.0 fuel filter for $36. The local Ford stealer wanted $76 for it, and $186 to change it.
Hah!

I have read somewhere on this forum that the fuel filters for the Ford 6.0 are the ones that International uses for the 4.5 and the filters for the International 6.0 fit the Ford 7.3

True?

Correct. The Ford 6.0 filters are from the IH 4.5(VT275). As far as the Ford 7.3 filters fitting the IH 6.0, I'm not sure on that.

Post Filters!!

Here's some useful information posted by beachbumcook, a few weeks ago (about the 17-19) in the 6.0 forum. read back and you'll find a thread with about 25 posts. But here's the most informative piece by BBC....if you find it useful, please give him credit::
Use Racor/Motorcraft - Fuel Filters Are Not All Equal (WIX's Are NOT The Same)!!!
<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1>The fuel filters for the Ford 6.0L are different than the International 6.0L. Ford buys the blocks from International but uses the International 4.5L motor's fuel filter for the Ford 6.0L motor.

International #: 1847170C92
Cost: $27.79/kit
Contents: (Two Racor Filters - Kit)

The link below is for an International dealer in Michigan and if you scroll down, it is the fuel filter kit for the 4.5L motor. The 6.0L motor for International uses the filter Ford uses on their 7.3L.

http://www.tricotruck.com/
(Click on "deals" and scroll down)

Racor filters use a white media that is called "AquaBloc" and helps seperate water in the HFCM unit. Other "will fit" filters by WIX and others do not have the white media (old stock did, but new stock does not). As well, at $27.79/kit, why use anything else)? Get OEM (RACOR) quality at a great price. Even Oilguard.com sells for more money... and my local dealer wants over $70.00/kit - what a waste!!!

Here is a link for the explanation of the "AquaBloc" media...

http://www.southeastpowersystems.com/index.cfm?Category...20Oil%20Filters

Filters without the white media "Aqua Bloc" will allow water to possibly be sucked up into the paper pleats of the filter and possibly into your motor and injectors. As well, RACOR or Motorcraft fuel filters fit all model years of trucks (2003 - 2006) just fine, where as WIX has a filter number for 2003-2004 and a new one for 2005-2006... which concerns me and others.

I bought a new fuel filter at my local IH dealer and have confirmed all the above info. Did not check on oil filter as I buy Motorcraft at my local parts store for $19.99/each... and I just buy one at a time as needed (every 5,000 miles).

Conclusion... why use WIX and worry if they fit, whether they will seperate out the water due to the lack of AuqaBlock and why pay more?

Hope this answers your questions and helps everyone in this forum looking for quality filters at a great price.

p.s. - If you find the info useful and informative, please give me some positive feedback in the "reputation" link in the upper right - thanks.

Jeff
If you notice he points out the IH 4.5L filters = ford 6.0 and the IH 6.0= ford 7.3
Once again, thanks for the great info BBC!!!
