My tranny shop pulled my tranny apart (under warranty) and informed me that my TC is melted
I run Superchips at all settings and do tow 12,000 lbs regularly.
I need a new TC fast. I did a search and found some recommendations, but nothing concrete. My shop is recommending ATS Diesel (triple plate)...I talked to Banks about their TC and they said the triple plates are loud, and that is why they use 2. I need to come up to speed quick before I drop $1400.
I want to make sure there aren't better options for my money
Suggestions/comments?
'99 F350 7.3L PSD, Superchips (+120HP), K&N Intake, Beefed-tranny & shiftkit (I've left 4 patches of rubber)

I highly reccomend the Stallion Torque Converter by Precision Industries. Click here!
I am happy with my Banks. It is just a little, but worth the money. Yeah I know there are some Banks Haters, but I have not seen a Banks TC screw up!!!
The precision units are top notch. They will take any and all abuse that you will throw at it. I have owned two, one is in a 9 sec stang, the other in a high 10 lightning. The L was a daily driver that hauled the stang to the track.
i have only heard good things about ATS. there is a thread going over at TDS about this same subject and a number of people are saying the new ATS 5 star is the best converter made at this time
Is putting a performance torque convertor in a stock tranny a good idea? Seems I recall a thread about it stressing the transmission too much. I am not an expert and would like to know if this is true or not. Maybe someone with more knowledge could answer that?

Your right there....a good tranny rebuild with those T/C's mentioned would go a long way.I say bite the bullet and do it all.
Nut
Well yes and no... It all depends on the condition of your tranny - AND what you do with it!! If there is already something weak and worn - a new aftermarket TC would most likely make it go faster...
IMHO - and I'm hoping this is true for me - an aftermarket cooler, a triple-disc TC, a good shift kit (BTS valve body for me) and good (Jody Tipton for me) trans tuning, should hold up well to moderate horsepower and sensible driving - as long as the rest of the transmission is in good shape!
Well thanks for all your input I decided to go with the Banks, they claim that their stall speed is lower then anyone else (1700-1800). With the low torque curve of the PSD it seemed the lower the better. Its still being installed so I don’t know how its going to turn out but for some reason I’m sure I’m going to need new tires.
