Storing a C-6
I just bought a 79 F150 4X donor ( 90k original miles) from the original owner, to contribute parts to my (almost twin) 78 4X restoration. The C-6 in my 78 is working great but has 200K on its last rebuild. According to the owner of the 79 donor it was never abused or towed anything, completely stock, maintained and until a tree crushed the cab it drove fine. ATF is pink and no leaks.
I think I would like to store the donor trans for an unknown period.
Is there anything I should do to the trans for mothball?
OR
Would I be better off selling and replace when I need it?
