A member, I think in Colorado, has a blue '03 250 with a cap that has a roll out side canopy and kayak rack built in.
Anyone know who this is?
Hey Steve_250! I can't help you with where it came from, but I am looking for something identical for surf fishing. Would you PLEASE PM me if you get any info? Thanks!

All the rack components are made by Thule. The canopy was made by a company called Carefree of Colorado, I don't think they exist anymore, but a bit of searching via the internet might yield some results or prove otherwise. Here's a quick Thule parts list:
I'm curious as to how it all mounts up there. Two or four point system? Drill through the roof to attach? Can ya get a pic of the mountings?
Are the load bars something special or just whatever?
Thule makes a false gutter mount, part# 542. You would figure out what bar spred width you want, based on what is going to be loaded up there. Since I was doing a rooftop box, I used the max spred the box would accept, 38" I believe. Drill the holes for the mounts and install them. I sealed all the holes with black silicone. Everything beyond that is self-explainatory, install the load bars into the load feet, set each bar into the gutter mounts, center the bars on the vehicle, and tighten it all down. Then you can add all the accessories you might want. I've had 3 kayaks in top plus 200+ lbs in the roofbox and not had any problems, except gas mileage goes to .
