I've got a 96 PSD its leaking fuel around the fuel pump. I've herd they can be a pain to work on. Were would be a possible leak o-ring,gasket.....etc. anybody got breakdown.
Do a search and you should find a lot of information. Leaks can come from lots of places. The mechanical fuel pump in the middle of the valley can go bad. I've changed them in a few hours. The first time it took me about four hours. I just fixed a leak on mine which came from the filter sensor in the side of the filter housing. Of course lines and connections can go bad also. Good luck, Hope this helps
i just did mine on friday and its no fun. there a 2 weep holes on the bottom of the fuel pump that can leak.
parts you need to buy
fuel pump.
the 3 blue hoses. 2 of them are in one pack and then the other.
the 2 gaskets for the banjo bolt.
the hardest thing for me was the dam banjo bolt.(lots of little cuts on the back of your hands) other than that it was just the normal reaching into the middle of the valley straining for hours in the cold to get er done with an hpx line that was disconnected dripping oil everywhere.
my next time i am buying an electric system. if you need part # let me know i got all the bags and stuff in my truck.
you also need the combo i cant remember what it is right now but i think its 1 1/8. i will look again to make sure.
I had a problem with the fuel filter housing, it had pin holes in the bottom between the mounting feet. I patched it up with some JB Weld, but I see that it is leaking again. I quess I'll have to repalce it.
There are three guys parting out engines on ebay right now. Do a search for powerstroke and you'll find some of their parts. E-mail them and I'll bet one of them will send you the filter housing to your door for $25. It will probably have the pressure regulator on the side of it and maybe some hoses, too. Or ask them to stick it on an auction for you. I just got a timing chain cover with HPOP, new IPR, reservoir(what I actually needed), two temp and one oil pressure senders, and the two HPOP hoses for $130. Let me know if anyone needs the cover.
Hi:
Thanks very much for the info. I went through all 800 items and didn't find the guys that you had mentioned or I just didn't now what to look for. Anyway, it is a very interesting site and I did bid on a few small items. I did find one housing under a different search but they wanted $275 plus shipping for it, this is about the same price as a new one from the dealer.
If during one of your seaches you should happen to trip across a fuel housing please let me know, the truck is a 1996.
Thanks again

Sorry to have sent you on a wild goose chase. I have contacted both people I know of who are parting out PSD's and asked them if they have a fuel filter housing. I should hear back tomorrow and will let you know as soon as I do.
I've got a line on two so far. Seller alalor has one very complete. He sent me pix and will send a price later today. There is one in Denver for $45 delivered to your door(seller bpparts). Bret 303-503-1632. Neither one is on ebay yet. I contacted the sellers directly.
F350 Hauler:
Geeee, thanks alot, I didn't expect you to go thru all that trouble but thanks a bunch.
The one from Denver sounds great but lets see what alalor has to say. I talked to Bret this morning and he said that the unit is in great shape and will hold it for me.
Hi:
Soooo, here is the story, I called Bret at Bpparts and he had the one unit but he had another buyer that was in dire need for one now, but he said that he had two more coming in and asked if I could wait for a couple of days. Unfortunetly, they were both bad and he doesn't see anymore coming anytime soon. Do you still have the info from your other source, alalor.
