Now, I know nothing about blowers so for curiosity's sake, what would make that thing blow like that? I've seen them on the big dragsters going wide open and can understand that, but this one was running low revs and almost sounded like it was winding down real slow when it went. Does a backfire from the engine light it off?
Typically when the blower pops off the intake manifold a backfire does it, lots of reasons: stuck intake valve, hot spot in cylinder, crossfiring thru ingnition wires, stuck or no popit valve. SCOTT supercharged flatheads were very popular in the 50s-60s.
Superchargers can be made to operate reliably on just about any engine. They add reliable horsepower to flathead Fords. Joe Abbin has proved that and sells kits to mount to flatheads as well as his book. Magnacharger also sells blowers for flatheads. Uncommon engineering is probably the most expensive way to go if you want a supercharged flathead Ford V-8. H&H in California will build up a flathead Ford V-8 or 4-banger.
