Picked up my third 67-72 F series pickup yesterday a 69 F100 straight 6 ( 240 I'm guessing ) for $25. It's been smacked pretty good in the passanger front so the hood/right fender are toast as is the radiator, hood, bumper and grille. However the engine runs great. So then I planned on taking the motor out of it and dropping it into my 71 F100 parts truck to put it back on the road. However that leaves me short a hood and grille. ( stolen off the parts truck to get my 71 F250 inspected. So I was wondering 1) can a 73-79 hood fit on these trucks? The local junkyard has a ton of 74 through 78 but nothing with any body parts worth using earlier then that. 2)If anyone can tell me if the engine is in fact a 240 from the vin F10ACF13840 . Thirdly it has an Explorer label on the glove box and has what looks like a vinyl roof. Black with chrome trim. But further inspections makes it seem as if it is in fact just black textured painting as it has surface rust which I didn't think the laws of physics would allow for vinyl? Anyhow I've only been a Ford truck owner since Aug but I'll never own another brand again. This board has been an invaulable source of information getting the first back on the road and I have no doubt will prove the same for the second. Thanks in advance for all the help.
Okies Barry thanks for the response. Now just to figure out how to get the paint vinyl textured when I re do it and I'll be golden Leastwise now I know which engine to order parts for. As far as the hood goes for now it'll be whatever gets it on the road blew an exhaust manifold gasket in my daily driver today so wanna get this one up and going so I can just redo the whole engine on the F250. Once that gets set will work on getting this one back to where it should be. Anyhow I'm rambling thanks again for the answers Barry
