Question Transynd in a C6?

So we are switching all our transit buses to Transynd Synthetic trans fluid.
Which previously were using Dexron, as my C6 uses dexron I have been told I can use the transynd too.
Anybody know if that is right or not?

I am also planning on maybe a bigger oil cooler, a temp gauge installed in the return line from the cooler back into the tranny as recommended by B&M gauges and possible even a electric fan to make it better for when I tow my 1989 18.5FT. Fifth wheel.

Sorry,

Welcome to the Oil and Lubrication Forum.

I have not heard of Transynd myself. Maybe you can post a link. Dexron/Mercon fluids have certain frictional characteristics for the type of clutch materials used in your C6. If Transynd is not Dexron or Mercon qualified, that would be my concern. Too much friction modifer will lead to slippage and transmission death, too little and you get hard or harsh shifts.

Transynd is a proprietary transmission lubricant manufactured by Castrol for Allison Transmission. Here's some information from their website.

I would cautiously assume it is Dexron III approved. According to the FAQ sheet, Transynd is approved for the 1000 series Allison transmissions in pickup trucks, which require Dexron III fluid. So it may be reasonable to assume that Transynd meets the Dexron III specification.

The best way to be certain is to contact Castrol or look up a data sheet for Transynd.

if your c-6 is pre 79 then never use a mercon/dexron fluid. it will destroy the transmission. you need a fluid with no friction modifiers in it.

Well my 77 called for the CJ which was Dexron/mercon So it is not supposed to be type F.
I know that it is okay with the dexron, but was not sure about the Transynd.
