Well people-finally got a back up car to drive and can now begin the processs.
I'm really interested to know what you all think of the following:
Currently running a 1979 F250 2wd w/400 and NP. Have always liked the 390
matched to c6 and frankly am tired of the manual shifting.me being the way I am this will turn out to be a full off restore so since i'm there why not go for the 390/c6 combo? What all is entailed in this? Different drive shaft and rearend ? I know the interior is gonna entail quite a bit with the manual to auto conversion along with my other upgrades, more interested in what it's gonna take in the engine compartment back????? Just looking for more ideas and comments. Appreciate it- John
well the 390s an FE, that's old school, the 400's a 351c stroked to the max. Needless to say the c6 has to be for the old school engine, some new mounts are gonna have to be fabricated. The easiest way to do this is probly to get a truck that has what you want (pre-76) and steal what you want from it. Plus the 390's gonna need to have a competent re-builder if that's part of the package. Not everyone knows how to build one of these. It's not the hardest thing ever done, but it will be an involved build. Let us know about the progress.
