I just paid $3250 for my '85 auto crew-cab dually diesel (upgraded to a '93 7.3 IDI motor). Truck is in so-so condition with a good body and chassis. Needs a lot of "nickel & dime" stuff. Runs great.
However, I was watching this auction with interest on E-Stink...and the truck went for WAY more than I would've paid...go figger:
Hee-Hee... I picked up an 86 250 Supercab 4x4 6.9 diesel for $500. It needed some minor repairs, about $200 so far. It's no beauty queen, but far from being a rust bucket.
BTW, eBay is the worst place to look. Too many people are willing to overpay just to win the auction. I like Craigslist.
Also, depending on where you are in OH, I'd also look for trucks in Canada. Anything manufactured in Canada or here can come across without paying any duty. I did that with my last truck, a 90 f350 crew cab 4x4 (gas) that was cherry and only had 88,000 kilometers on it. I sold it 8 months later for $3,000 more than I paid.
